Crisis Communications: The Lonely Passion
By SituationHub.com
You – being passionate about crisis communications – it can be a lonely world.
We get it.
Heroes in the world of crisis communications are people in all types of companies who realize that the organizations’ revenue, reputation, and brand can be destroyed with a tweet, a single picture or video on social media, or the careless act or words of an employee.
Welcome to your new safe space.
Our goal is to build a community of like-minded people. We want this to be your virtual SituationHub where you can exchange ideas, ask for help, or challenge conventional thinking.
The community is open to everyone, whether you subscribe to SituationHub.com or not. We just want you to have a place to hang out.
What are your struggles in doing your job; in leading the way in crisis communications?
We’ll list a few, but we’d like you to add to the list:
- You “get it” – the need to be prepared. But those around you “don’t get it.”
- You clearly see what could go wrong and you pro-actively want to be ready. Yet when you raise concerns, people say you are being “negative.”
- You know social media can destroy an organization in seconds, yet many of your leaders couldn’t find Facebook.com if you typed it into their web browser.
- Speed is important to you. From the flashpoint of your situation to the writing of a statement, to the release of a statement, you know the typical approval process is flawed and slow.
- Tools – You want tools in your crisis communication toolbox. But your employer will neither give you the time to do what needs to be done nor will they give you the money to hire an expert.
You Build the Community
How would you like to structure this community of kindred crisis communicators?
- Do you want Master Classes?
- Is a YouTube Channel a good fit?
- Would you read and contribute to a blog?
- In a world of podcasts, do we need another one?
- Are you active on Twitter or LinkedIn?
This is a blank slate. We hope to hear from you.
Are we close?
What else would you like to add to the list?
